Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and HIKO Software, a company registered in Taiwan (“we”, “us”), which operates ShowStep at showstep.ai. By creating an account or using ShowStep you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use ShowStep on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

1. Early access

ShowStep is in early access. Features may change, be limited or be removed, and the service may be interrupted while we build it. We do not currently offer any uptime commitment. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old to use ShowStep.
• Use an email address you control; sign-in codes are sent there. Anyone with access to that inbox can sign in to your account, so keep it secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at support@showstep.ai if you think it has been misused.

3. Your content

You keep all rights to the recordings you make or upload and to the step documents produced from them (“your content”). You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, transcode, transcribe, analyse and display your content, only as needed to provide ShowStep to you and to the people you share it with, including through the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep for a short time in backups or by law.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you record. Screens and audio often capture other people’s names, messages or personal data; make sure you are allowed to record and share them.

4. AI-generated output

Transcripts and step documents are produced automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Review them before you rely on them or share them, especially for anything involving safety, money, health or legal obligations. They are not professional advice.

5. Sharing

When you create a share link, anyone who has the link can view the shared page and leave comments, unless you set a password. You can disable a link or replace it with a new one at any time. You are responsible for who you give links to.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use ShowStep to:

• break the law, or record or share content you have no right to;
• upload malware, or content that is sexual content involving minors, harassing, hateful or that promotes violence;
• collect or expose other people’s personal data without a lawful basis;
• attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, probe or overload the service, or get around usage limits;
• resell the service, or use it to build a competing product by copying it.

7. Fees

ShowStep is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, prices will be shown in US dollars before you choose a plan, and we will not charge you unless you choose one.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using ShowStep at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk; where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your content first.

9. Disclaimers

ShowStep is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to ShowStep is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will update the date above and tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using ShowStep after that, the updated terms apply.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Taiwan Taipei District Court has jurisdiction as the court of first instance. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

13. Language

These terms are available in English and Traditional Chinese. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
